He rose from a very humble position and through sheer hard work, determination, perseverance,
diligence, sincerity and honesty laid the foundation of the YUNAS family on a very strong and sound
footing.
A brave and gallant soldier and an excellent administrator he reached the highest position of
Subedar Major, the rank then available to the Viceroy Commissioned Officers in the British Indian
Amy (1919), in a very short service period
He was conferred the military awards or the- Order of British India (O.B.I), the Indian Distinguished
Service Medal (I.D.S.M.) and the title of 'Bahadur' (Gallant).
On retirement from the Army in recognition of his exemplary service record, he was granted
agricultural land in Chak 9-A/8R, Tehsil Mian Chunnun, District Khanewal, Punjab, under the
Colonization Scheme. He was also appointed 'Lamberdar' (Headman) of the same Chak and given a
square of land (25 acres) for horse breeding by Army Remount Department (General Headquarters).
